At the end of April, there were 349,410 people in the records of employment institutes and services in Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH), and compared to the previous month, the number of unemployed was lower by 3,480 or 0.99 percent, and by 16,456 or 4.5 percent compared to the same month last year, as shown by data from the Agency for Labor and Employment of BiH.

Unemployment in April compared to the previous month decreased in the Federation of BiH (FBiH) by 2,956 persons or 1.05 percent, in the Republika Srpska (RS) by 1,191 persons or 1.9 percent, while it increased in Brcko District by 667 persons or 8.25 percent.

The Agency states that data for the Zenica-Doboj canton are unavailable and repeated from June last year, because the Employment Service of this canton is in the process of implementing a new information system.

Most of the registered workers were qualified – 110,011 or 31.48 percent of the total number, followed by unqualified persons, 99,945 or 28.6 percent, and persons with secondary education 98,770 or 28.27 percent.

In April, 19,564 persons were deleted from the records of employment services, of which 9,789 were employed.

At the same time, 6,708 people lost their jobs, while employers reported the need to hire 3,101 new workers in this period.

According to the data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, there were 852,402 employed people in BiH in March, which is 0.1 percent more than the previous month.

The registered unemployment rate for March was 29.3 percent, and compared to the previous month, it decreased by 0.1 percentage point.
