BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Stasa Kosarac stated that it is an encouraging fact that BiH is recording a surplus in trade with CEFTA countries for the first time.

Data from competent institutions indicate that for the first time the coverage of imports by exports exceeded 100 percent and in the first quarter was 102.8 percent, and in the second quarter 102.6.

Minister Kosarac emphasized that within the framework of CEFTA, the most important foreign trade partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina is still Serbia, with which in the past period, there has been an improvement in trade.

“The excellent political relations of the Serbian member of the BiH Presidency, Milorad Dodik, and the President of the Republika Srpska, Zeljka Cvijanovic, with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, are accompanied by the improvement of economic ties and cooperation, which is important and beneficial for all citizens. This is best illustrated by the fact that exports to Serbia have increased by more than 80 percent, primarily thanks to the export of electricity and coal,” said Kosarac for Srna news agency.

He pointed out that data from relevant institutions indicate that this year exports to CEFTA countries amounted to 1.4 billion BAM, which is 71.3 percent more than in the same period in 2021, and imports to 1.3 billion BAM, which is 41.6 percent more than last year.
