The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Selmo Cikotić, met today in Sarajevo with the head of the Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Laura Lungarotti, with whom he discussed the implementation of defined priorities in the management of migration and increasing the security of citizens.

As the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina stated, it was pointed out that in the past period, numerous activities have been realized that resulted in the creation of adequate capacities for the accommodation of migrants, and in increasing the safety of migrants and the local population.

Minister Cikotić particularly pointed out that thanks to the measures implemented by the Ministry and police agencies, the number of migrants has been significantly reduced and that there are currently 974 people in four reception centers.

This is the lowest number of migrants in our country since the beginning of the migrant crisis.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed future cooperation between the Ministry of Security and the International Organization for Migration, as well as priorities in the field of migration management.
