BiH still does not know whether it will participate in the EXPO Dubai 2020 Fair

Although the organizers of the world’s largest fair and presentation of entrepreneurship EXPO Dubai 2020 offered the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) to finance the appearance of our country at this event, it is still uncertain whether participation in this important event will be realized.

Just like everything in our country, this decision is hampered by politics, more precisely by politicians who do not want to do their job, so BiH is in a situation where not even two weeks before the deadline given by the organizer to our country to declare participation, there is no answer.

”I remind the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, which is responsible for this issue, that the Council of Ministers of BiH accepted participation in 2019 and it is necessary to take urgent measures and steps so that BiH not only takes the chance but also fulfills the obligation to participate in this event, ” said Bisera Turkovic, Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH.

On several occasions, she added, at the sessions of the Council of Ministers of BiH in past months, she proposed solutions and options in order to overcome the different opinions of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations and the Ministry of Finance regarding the proposed bill.

”Some suggested unrealistic expenses, while others obviously had a problem with any kind of investment. I still think that there are ways to, in cooperation with the real sector and the host, realize the participation and prevent the disgrace of the state on the international scene. I am afraid that this is another attempt to try to harm the state through reluctance and blockades. If that is the case, then the public and citizens must know who is responsible, ” Turkovic stated.

It should be reminded that Stasa Kosarac, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, pointed out in mid-July that he believed that this issue would be agreed upon at the session of the Council of Ministers that was to be held at the end of July. But, neither the decision to participate was made, nor was the session held due to the boycott of ministers from Republika Srpska (RS).

The world’s largest fair and presentation of entrepreneurship EXPO Dubai 2020 will be held from October 1st, 2021 to March 31st, 2022 (new dates due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and is the perfect opportunity for the economies of different countries to show what they have and to present their potential. However, it is most likely that this is another opportunity in a series that our country will miss, EKapija writes.
