The Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Elmedin Konaković held a telephone meeting with the Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development of the United Kingdom Stephen Doughty, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH announced on X.
The conversation focused on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the irreplaceable role of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) in preserving peace, stability and constitutional order.
Minister Konaković emphasized the importance of maintaining the full capacity and mandate of the OHR, emphasizing its role in preserving institutional functionality, respecting the Dayton Peace Agreement and protecting the sovereignty and democratic governance of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He emphasized the continued relevance of the Bonn powers when state institutions face direct challenges, emphasizing their importance in preserving the integrity of the Dayton Framework and preventing destabilizing actions.
Minister Doughty confirmed the unwavering support of the United Kingdom for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasized the importance of the Office of the High Representative in respecting the Dayton Peace Agreement and reiterated the United Kingdom’s strong support for the full mandate and authority of the OHR, at the same time emphasizing the importance of close cooperation with international partners in preserving peace, stability and advancing the country’s democratic future.
