BiH will continue to follow the foreign Policy of the European Union

The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH Borjana Krišto (HDZ BiH) and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Elmedin Konaković from the People and Justice Party (NiP) said in Mostar, after the meeting of the HDZ BiH with representatives of the parties of the Eight, that the foreign policy Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to follow the foreign policy of the European Union.

“At the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the last convocation, as well as the legislature, we condemned the Russian aggression against Ukraine, following the decisions of the United Nations and the European Union, in the sense that the positions of the European Union were fully respected,” Krišto said answering journalists’ questions to comment the call of the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsols, for Bosnia and Herzegovina to impose sanctions on Russia.

Konaković added that BiH has an adopted foreign policy strategy that is still in force and that it has candidate status and the Stabilization and Association Agreement, as well as a number of other acts that clearly define its European and Euro-Atlantic path.

In those documents and regulations, as he stated, there is an obligation to respect the external, security and other policies of the European Union.

“On the other hand, for any new potential decision on the introduction of sanctions of some other type or visa regime or other decisions that require the decisions of the Presidency of BiH and the Council of Ministers of BiH, we know very well that we do not have the political consent of the representatives from Republika Srpska. It would be challenging to tell you otherwise. That is our political reality,” emphasized Konaković.

When it comes to the candidacy of Marin Vukoja for the position of judge of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Konaković said that the People and Justice will support that candidacy.

He added that “now all the masks have fallen” and that “destruction comes from those who are facing the loss of power”.

Konaković pointed out that the state budget has been increased by 244 million KM, which means, as he emphasized, a serious strengthening of all BiH institutions, as well as all the reform processes, Fena reports.
