During the meeting on Tuesday in Sarajevo, members of the BiH Presidency rated that Kingdom of Norway was among the largest bilateral donor countries in BiH, which through several development cooperation projects supported reform processes in BiH, highlighting areas of support for judicial reform, public administration and support for strengthening civil society.
The members of the BiH Presidency thanked in particular on the assistance of Norway after the floods in BiH in 2014 and the ongoing assistance program for the demining of Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the humanitarian organization of the Norwegian Peoples Aid Movement which has been in existence since 1996.
Minister Ine Eriksen Soreide pointed out that Norway would continue to support BiH in demining the territory, and just after meeting with the members of the Presidency of BiH she visited the Mines and Explosives Dog Training Center located in Vogosca, which was founded and financed by “Norwegian National Aid”.
The meeting also discussed regional co-operation in the Western Balkans and migration of people from non-European countries in BiH and the region.
BiH Presidency members informed Soreide that BiH would host the regional Summit of SEECP, and that the model of good neighborly cooperation in Scandinavia would also be implemented in the Western Balkans region.
The speakers said that more than 17,000 people from BiH who are permanently living in Norway are well integrated into Norwegian society and that they can be the bridge in the good cooperation of the two states.
