In 2025, the metal and electrical industry of BiH achieved exports of 7.31 billion BAM, which is an increase of 5.46 percent compared to the previous year, while imports amounted to 11.2 billion BAM and recorded a growth of 4.71 percent.
According to the analysis of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the metal and electrical sector accounted for more than 36 percent of total imports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2025.
Significant growth was also recorded in the export of weapons and ammunition, which increased in the last five years by almost 8 times. The dedicated industry has positioned itself as a competitive supplier capable of responding quickly to increased demand.
This trend is strongly conditioned by global geopolitical trends and the growth of defense allocations in a large number of countries, and Bosnia and Herzegovina uses existing production capacities and many years of experience in this segment.
“Although this growth has a strong short-term effect on total exports, it is a sector that is extremely sensitive to security circumstances,” it is stated in the analysis of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH.
