The best Bosnian marathon runner, Emir Hastor, is preparing hard for the big competitions that await him soon, namely the marathon in New York and Valencia.
The first places won in the last 5K races in Visoko and East Sarajevo are proof that this prominent athlete is getting back in shape after the unpleasant injury he suffered at the end of last season.
This weekend, Hastor is also expecting the Sarajevo half-marathon, which will be of a humanitarian nature. As part of the campaign “Let’s run together for a child’s smile”, Hastor will “sell” his kilometers, and all funds collected will be directed to the Foundation for the support and development of mentoring programs “Older Brother, Older Sister”.
“The price of one kilometer is 20 BAM, and everyone who wants to support the campaign can “buy” one or more kilometers or pay a larger amount directly to the Foundation’s account. A friend sent me an announcement and I decided immediately to participate and sell my miles and run a half marathon for those who can’t. It’s a wonderful feeling when you know you can help someone, and this is the least we can do for our children, for their smile,” said Hastor.
He believes that athletes, as well as recreational athletes, have a special responsibility to support humanitarian actions through their activities, and emphasizes that it is especially important to show solidarity towards the sick, children and people who are in a difficult financial situation.
After Sarajevo, the end of an extremely demanding racing season awaits Hastor.
“Already on November 1, I will perform at the marathon in New York, one of the world’s seven largest marathons, where more than 55,000 runners from all over the world will be at the start. At the end of the season, I will participate in the marathon in Valencia with about 40,000 runners. I already improved the best result of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the last 20 years this year in Rome, and now I believe that I can go one step further,” said the best BiH marathon runner, Fena writes.
