The first High Representative of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Carl Bildt, commented on the resignation of the current High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt.

“The High Representative, who has always been under attack from Russia, has now been brought down by the United States. The EU has been weak and unfocused in its approach, but now it must pull itself together,” Bildt said.

He added that after 30 years, the OHR has outlived its purpose and a new initiative is now needed.

Along with the post, he shared on X a text from the German media stating that Schmidt has stated that he will resign from the position of High Representative.

It is stated that Schmidt insists that Washington cannot decide on its own who will replace him.

It was also pointed out that some individuals are of the opinion that Schmidt does not need a successor and that he should be the last High Representative in BiH.
