A billboard poster with the inscription “No to NATO” on the background of which the sign “Z” is visible was placed in Ravnogorska Street, not far from the building of the Municipality of Istocna Ilidza.

BIRN BiH could not confirm who put up the poster with the “Z” sign.

Since February 2022, this symbol has been used by the Russian army on its vehicles and the uniforms of the troops that invaded Ukraine during which, according to the Ukrainian authorities, hundreds of civilians have lost their lives, which domestic and international judicial institutions are investigating as war crimes.

According to the United Nations, more than five thousand citizens of this country have lost their lives in the shelling of Ukrainian cities. The International Criminal Court has said it will investigate numerous allegations that Russia committed war crimes in Ukraine.

EU countries, along with allies the US and others, imposed sanctions on Russia over the invasion.

In early March, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted a resolution for which BiH also voted, condemning the Russian attack and calling for the withdrawal of troops and a ceasefire.
