The Minister of Economy of Canton Sarajevo (CS) Zlatko Mijatovic with the director of the Cantonal Public Company “ZOI ’84” Olympic Center Sarajevo Jasmin Mehic visited the construction sites on Igman and Bjelasnica and got to know the stage of implementation of the projects on these Olympic mountains.

It should be mentioned that on Bjelasnica, ski slopes are being improved and expanded, drainage systems are being built, and humus is added and weeded in order to reduce the number of stones on the slopes, which is one of the long-standing problems of this locality.

Work is also being carried out on ambient decoration, the installation of additional snowmaking systems, and lighting new parts of the slopes, which will increase the capacity of night skiing on Bjelasnica.

The construction of an automatic garage for a six-seater cable car is in the final phase, and the equipping of modern public toilets, which were not available to visitors in previous seasons, is nearing completion.

“Bjelasnica and Igman undeniably offer conditions for numerous winter activities, and our common goal is to enrich these mountains with additional content that will be offered to visitors during the summer season. The possibilities are large and varied and we believe that we will be able to use these potentials,” Minister Mijatovic and Director Mehic stated.

Currently, work is being done on the project of arranging the area around the reservoir lakes, so that they will become a pleasant tourist attraction during the summer season, and during the winter the accumulated water from the lake will continue to be used for snowmaking on the slopes.

Bicycle racks have been installed on the six-seater cable car, there are also plans to establish an Alpine coaster. All these and many other projects will contribute to the Olympic Center Bjelasnica and Igman having record attendance next year.

“This was an opportunity to emphasize once again that ‘ZOI ’84 is investing enormous efforts in the implementation of the agreed projects. I believe that they will persevere in this and that every next season will be better than the previous one,” said Minister Mijatovic, who expressed his support for the young team of this company, which invests great energy and commitment to restore Bjelasnica and Igman to their Olympic glory.

“On this path, they have the full support of the Ministry of Economy of CS,” the Minister of Economy of CS Zlatko Mijatovic concluded, Biznis Info reports.
