Blinken announced $404 million in new aid for the Palestinians

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced $404 million in new US aid to the Palestinians and called on other countries to contribute money to help solve the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The aid, announced at an emergency aid conference in Jordan, brings the total US contribution to the Palestinians — in Gaza, the West Bank and the region — to $674 million since the war broke out in October, according to the State Department.

Blinken said on this occasion that the UN appeal for the Palestinians was only one-third funded, with a shortfall of some 2.3 billion dollars.

“Some have expressed great concern about the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, including countries that can give a lot but have given very little or nothing at all,” Blinken said at a conference on emergency aid in Jordan, probably referring to China and Russia, reports France 24.

He said it is time for everyone to increase their aid and for those who have already given to give more.

Blinken did not specify how the United States would deliver the aid, but Washington – the biggest donor to the Palestinians – focused on the World Food Program and humanitarian organizations.
