Blinken does not approve of Trump’s Idea of taking over Greenland

United States (U.S.) Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday that the idea of future President Donald Trump for Greenland to become part of the U.S. “is not a good one.”

Trump refused to rule out the use of force in taking control of the Arctic island, claiming it is necessary for the U.S. for reasons of national security.

Denmark, which officially controls Greenland, stated that the island will not become a new U.S. state.

Trump’s “idea about Greenland is obviously not good,” Blinken said to reporters at a press conference held in Paris with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, adding that it “obviously will not happen.”
