Blinken: Ethno-nationalists cannot compromise the Future of BiH

United States (U.S.) Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke out after the U.S. sanctioned the President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), Marinko Cavara (HDZ), and the Minister of Health of Republika Srpska (RS), Alen Seranic (SNSD).

”BiH’s future cannot be compromised by ethno-nationalist parties at the expense of its citizens. Today, the U.S. Treasury designated two officials who have undermined the Dayton Peace Agreement and BiH’s democratic processes,” said Blinken yesterday.

According to him, BiH is facing the most serious crisis since 1995. He reminded that the government in RS is working on forming institutions that endanger the state government. He accused the HDZ of acting against, as he stated, democratic processes.

To recall, the reason why Cavara was sanctioned is that the U.S. consider him responsible for the blockade of the functioning of the FBiH. The promotion of secessionist activities of the RS was pointed out as the reason for sanctioning Seranic.

The U.S. has previously sanctioned a member of the Presidency of BiH and SNSD President Milorad Dodik, Banja Luka’s Alternativna TV, former Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH Gordana Tadic, and high-ranking SDA official Asim Sarajlic, Klix.ba writes.
