Blinken Reveals U.S. Secretly Supplied Weapons to Kyiv Since 2021

Washington secretly supplied Kiev with weapons in 2021, before the Russian attack on Ukraine began, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said.

“If you look at the trajectory of the conflict, because we saw it coming, we were able to make sure that not only were we ready and that our allies and partners were ready, but that Ukraine was ready. We made sure of that well before the Russian attack, starting in September and then again in December 2021,” Blinken told The New York Times.

He added that a lot of weapons were secretly supplied to Ukraine.

“This was done to make sure that they had what they needed to defend themselves, things like Stinger air defense systems and Javelin anti-tank systems, which were key in preventing Russia from taking Kiev,” Blinken said.

Russia began the war on February 24, 2022.
