Last year, foreign citizens and companies bought real estate in Montenegro in the period from January to October worth 370 million euros, according to data from the Central Bank of that country, which is a strong increase compared to previous years.

Foreigners have bought Montenegrin real estate for 1.2 billion euros in the last five years, according to Montenegrin News(”Vijesti”).

According to data from the Montenegrin Central Bank, German citizens and companies from that country bought the most real estate last year – worth 57 million euros, followed by Russians who invested 50 million in real estate.

Citizens and companies from Serbia are in third place with 42 million, and in fourth place are customers from the United States (U.S.) with 32 million euros.

In fifth place are investors from Turkey with 30 million, followed by Ukrainians and Swiss with 15 million each, Bosnians and Herzegovina with 14 million and the British with 12 million.

Montenegro was interesting to foreigners as a developing country with great tourist potential and because of the large number of exclusive tourist-residential projects, since they expect that the prices of these properties will not fall, that is, they can only grow with the development of these projects.

Also, the growth of real estate sales to foreigners last year, according to the interlocutor of “Vijesti” from this area, was mostly influenced by the implementation of the economic citizenship program, where the purchase of real estate – apartments in tourist centers in the south of the country for 450 thousand euros, and in the north and in underdeveloped municipalities for 250 thousand acquired the right to obtain citizenship, Biznis Info reports.
