Israel’s offensive on Rafah is likely to kill more civilians and is being carried out despite explicit warnings from European Union member states and the United States, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said.

“The offensive on Rafah has started again, despite all the demands of the international community, the US, the member states of the European Union, and everyone who asks Netanyahu not to attack,” said Josep Borrell.

“I’m afraid that this will again cause many victims, civilian victims. Whatever they say,” he said and added that there are no safe zones in Gaza, reports Reuters.

Palestinian militant group Hamas agreed on Monday to a mediator’s proposal for a cease-fire in Gaza, but Israel said the terms did not meet its demands and continued attacks in Rafah as it plans to resume talks on a deal.
