The High Representative of the European Union (EU), Josep Borrell, said before yesterday’s EU-Western Balkans summit in Tirana that this is an ”important day for the Western Balkans”because this is the first such summit organized in that region, and that the EU will provide support to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in the matter of demining.
”This is the first summit with the EU to be held in the Western Balkans. On our part, we are strongly committed to the region to support it in dealing with the consequences of the war. The price of electricity has risen considerably, and we will provide significant financial support to households,” he said.
Regarding BiH, Borell said that there are still plenty of mines in the country and that people are suffering the consequences.
”We will provide 10 million euros for a concrete demining campaign in BiH,” Borell stated.
