On Tuesday, Ambassador Brian Aggeler, head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, completed his visit to Canton 10 and the Una-Sana Canton.

Ambassador Aggeler began his visit on Monday, December 5, with a meeting with the Mayor of Drvar Municipality, Dušica Runić, one of only six female mayors in BiH.

Aggeler and Mayor Runić discussed a number of issues, including social and health care and continued cooperation between the Municipality and the Mission.

Ambassador Aggeler then visited the “Drvar” Elementary School, where he met with the assistant principal Ivana Kovačević and congratulated the school on its success in the “Proud of Your School” competition organized by the Mission throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Highlighting the efforts made by the school to ensure an inclusive learning environment, the ambassador said it was inspiring to see a beautifully designed space for learning and recreation.

“The active involvement of students in decision-making is the driving force. It is inspiring to see such a beautifully designed space for learning and recreation and to learn more about the creative contribution of students during the preparation of the School Day celebration,” stressed Aggeler.

On the second day of the visit, Ambassador Aggeler met with the Prime Minister of the Una-Sana Canton, Mustafa Ružnić.

Many topics were discussed, and Ambassador Aggeler, among other things, emphasized the Mission’s expectation that the Canton will operationalize its Office for the fight against corruption and praised the support provided by the Prime Minister in the development of the Gender Action Plan.

In Bosanski Petrovac, the Ambassador met with municipal officials, including municipal councilor Ansela Husetić.

“The efforts of Bosanski Petrovac aimed at promoting common goals and aspirations – trust, dignity and understanding, are exemplary. The construction of the Peace Monument and the celebration of September as the ‘Month of Peace and Tolerance’ make this municipality a model that I hope will be followed by communities from all over state”, said the ambassador.

Emphasizing the importance of diversity in schools, Aggeler met with the director of the mixed high school “Bosanski Petrovac” Nedret Delić, the director of the elementary school “Ahmet Hromadžić” Mujesira Kavaz, and the representative of the Youth Council Adnan Družić.

At the end of the visit, the ambassador opened a new coordination office of “Mountaineers without prejudice” in Sanski Most.

Aggeler pointed out that the Mission is proud to be able to provide support to “Mountaineers without prejudice”, which consists of associations from Drvar, Bosanski Grahov, Bosanski Petrovac, Sanski Most, Bosanska Krupa, Cazin and Prijedor.

“Your activities bring together communities from the entire region to protect the common environment and to encourage tourism in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is adorned with impressive beauty,” emphasized Aggeler at the end of his address.
