The national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina in sitting volleyball defended the title of European champion after in today’s final, which was played in Italy, after real drama and reversals, they defeated the selection of Germany with a score of 3:2 in sets (18:25, 25:23, 28 :30, 25:21, 15:6).
The first set went to the side of the Germans quite convincingly 25:18, and in the dramatic second set our team was better with 25:23 and reached an even set.
The real drama followed in the third set. Our selection had 26:25, but failed to use the set ball and Germany reached a new advantage by winning the set with a score of 30:28.
However, our team did not give in, played a great fourth set and won the decisive set with 25:21 in the tiebreak. On the wings of a great game from the fourth set, we continued in the fifth, and with a furious 15:6, we finished the job and achieved a great victory.
With this triumph, our golden volleyball players secured a direct placement at the Paralympic Games next year.
This is how the BiH national team defended the title of European champion won two years ago and we reached the 11th championship title.
Before that, we were champions nine times in a row (from 1999 to 2015), and then Russia won gold in two championships in a row. In addition to 11 gold medals, Bosnia and Herzegovina won two bronze and one silver.
