The United States government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Energy Policy Activity (USAID EPA) project, the British Embassy Sarajevo, the Office of European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Government, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, are organizing the Energy Summit 2023 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, from April 26 to 28, 2023, in Neum.

The summit will bring together representatives of the executive and legislative authorities, experts in the field of energy, and business entities who will discuss the most pressing issues in the BiH energy sector through seven thematic panels, workshops, and presentations of ongoing projects.

“This year’s Energy Summit in Bosnia and Herzegovina will gather key people and address the most important issues surrounding Bosnia and Herzegovina’s energy reform process.

The Government of the United States of America, through the USAID Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is proudly organizing this summit together with our partners because we are committed to supporting BiH’s efforts to strengthen energy security, transition to sustainable energy sources, create new business opportunities in the energy sector, and ultimately provide for a better life for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s citizens,“ said Courtney Chubb, Director of USAID Mission BiH.

Some of the key topics that will be discussed at this year’s Summit are the National Energy and Climate Plan and the opportunities of its implementation, the Energy Sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Between Transition and Energy Crisis, with a focus on the transition of the energy industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina to clean energy sources, what are the advantages and how to adapt existing products to the new standards.

Business opportunities for switching to renewable energy sources, that is, how to identify new business opportunities in the phase of transition to clean energy. Cybersecurity in the energy sector is currently one of the most current topics that analyze all potential cyber threats for all areas of the energy sector, and how to prevent and protect yourself from potential attacks.

The panel on potentials of energy efficiency in the residential sector, will discuss the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a very low degree of energy efficiency measures in residential buildings, and as a result, citizens and institutions pay huge financial costs.

The final panel at this year’s summit will discuss E-mobility as an opportunity to improve air quality in cities.

The largest summit of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina aims to raise the most important issues in the field of energy and bring together key domestic and international actors. It is organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the State Regulatory Commission for Electricity, the Regulatory Commission for Energy of Republika Srpska, and the Regulatory Commission for Energy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, announced the USAID Mission in BiH.
