”Bosnia and Herzegovina uses only 40% of the resources from the renewable energy sources”- said Tarik Kupusović the director of the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering Sarajevo
” If we pay attention only to hydro powers above 20 mgwh, than 40% of the potential is built in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but if we take into account small power plants, then the utilization of the potential is only 30%. In the developed countries of the European Union, for example in Germany and France, the capacities for getting energy from renewable resources are 100% utilized”- stated Kupusović before the regular meeting of the Association of Independent Intellectuals ”Circle 99” on the theme of ” Waterpower and alternatives- consideration of environmental aspects” that is being held in Sarajevo.
Kupusović also added that Bosnia and Herzegovina, judging by the utilization of these resources is at the bottom of the scale in Europe and in other parts of the world. According to Kupusović, that same underdevelopment of these capacities, presents an enormous potential for future growth.
Furthermore, the director Kupusović claims that: ” Construction work on these facilities only, for example hydro powers, would provide full-time employment for a large number of people. The investments for these projects could ”save” Bosnia and Herzegovina and the whole society from the eventual socio-economic crisis”.
