In the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, there was no support for a proposal on reciprocity towards Serbia, which envisaged a 30 percent increase in tariffs on the import of several types of steel and steel products.
The increase was proposed by Minister Staša Košarac, but the Troika representatives refused to vote, explaining that the proposal was not in line with international agreements. The implementation of the tariff increase was scheduled to begin on March 1.
“Such measures are out of the question. First and foremost, they would violate the Stabilization and Association Agreement and CEFTA. This is a free trade area of Central European countries, where such actions do not occur. Although Serbia has breached the agreement, we should respond with reciprocity towards it – but not extend it to partners with whom we have no issues,” said Elmedin Konaković, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (People and Justice Party – NiP).
