A solemn ceremony marking December 1, the Day of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held at the House of the AF BiH in Sarajevo, with a limited number of attendees.

The solemn ceremony was attended by members of the Presidency of BiH Zeljko Komsic and Sefik Dzaferovic, Minister of Defense of BiH Dr. Sifet Podzic, Chief of the Joint Staff of the BiH Armed Forces, Colonel General Senad Masovic, but also numerous other officials of all levels of government, as well as the highest representatives of the BiH Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces, NATO Headquarters Sarajevo and EUFOR, said the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In his address, the member of the Presidency of BiH, Zeljko Komsic, pointed out that he was honored to address, on behalf of the Presidency of BiH as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and on his own behalf, on the 15th anniversary of the Armed Forces of BiH. As he reminded, with the adoption of the Law on Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the Law on Service in the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 15 years ago the process of establishing professional and for various tasks trained armed forces of our country began.

These regulations enable the formation of such armed forces in which everyone can be included, regardless of ethnicity or religion, provided that within their professional abilities they can withstand the challenges required by belonging to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Our soldiers showed their ability for the greatest challenges within the peace missions of the United Nations and NATO, where they participated in very complex and demanding tasks, which led to them receiving high marks in these supranational organizations,” Komsic said.

Congratulating all members of the AF BiH on December 1 – the Day of the Armed Forces of BiH and the anniversary of its formation, General Masovic said: “We expect all peoples and citizens of BiH to be proud of their armed forces, to be with them and support them in their further development and progress, on our common path to Euro-Atlantic integration. ”

During the ceremony, a video was presented about some of a large number of successfully implemented activities of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2020, as well as video greetings received from friends and partners with whom the Armed Forces of BiH successfully cooperate.

At the end of the ceremony, gold plaques were presented to the units of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina for conscientious work and contribution to the development of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina stated.
