In the last 24 hours, 997 new cases of coronavirus were registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 2,400 people were tested. That is a decrease compared to Sunday when there were 1,211 newly infected and when 2,829 tests were performed.
Unfortunately, a record 73 deaths have been registered in our country in the last 24 hours. 1,424 samples were reported to the Public Health Institute of the Federation of BiH, of which 608 were positive for the coronavirus, Klix.ba news portal writes.
New cases have been registered in all cantons in the Federation of BiH, except Canton 10. A total of 226,977 samples have been tested so far, and SARS-CoV-2 has been confirmed in 39,945 individuals.
In Republika Srpska, in the last 24 hours at the Institute of Public Health of the RS, the University Clinical Center of the RS and the Hospital of St. Vracevi in Bijeljina tested 902 laboratory samples, and the coronavirus was confirmed in 383 people.
In the last 24 hours, 19 deaths were reported to the Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Srpska, in which the presence of coronavirus was confirmed.
Although Bosnia and Herzegovina is not at the top of the regional scale in terms of infected, it is definitely in the top when it comes to the death rate from COVID-19.
The European Center for Infectious Diseases (ECDC) regularly monitors and records the numbers of both newly infected and deaths, as well as the numbers of tests, as well as recovered. Based on their data, charts have been made that clearly show that Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks first in terms of the cumulative number of confirmed deaths in the past seven days, and is obtained by calculating each day for the previous seven backwards.
According to these data, the first place went to our country in relation to the countries of the former Yugoslavia, with 197 deaths in the last seven days, ending on November 5. Croatia is in second place with 161 deaths, followed by Slovenia, Northern Macedonia…
On the other hand, the mortality rate calculated in the last seven days per million inhabitants in BiH is 8.58. Thus, our country is in second place, and in front of us is only Montenegro with 10.1 deaths per same number of inhabitants, while Serbia has the lowest number – 0.99.
By comparison, one of the most powerful countries in the world, Germany, has 1.12 deaths per million inhabitants. Thus, it is far below BiH on the chart. For Austria, the figure is slightly higher, 2.60 per million people. This shows that BiH is one of the countries with the highest mortality rate from coronavirus at the European level, Avaz reports.
