Bosnian among the Leading Electrical Engineers in the World

Bosnian expert Dr. Sc. Haris Hamidovic was promoted to Senior Member of the International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), i.e. leading electrical engineering and computing association in the world.

Professor Hamidovic explained that this title is awarded only to members with at least 10 years of experience and important results in the profession, as well as those who are supported by recommendations of other members of the highest level of membership in the IEEE.

It is the highest organization of engineers, and it gathers more than 400,000 members from 160 countries from all over the world, and the main aim of IEEE is the encouragement and assistance to technical activities that are taking place all over the world and the improvement of theoretical and practical knowledge from the field of electrical engineering and IT.

“Besides this senior membership, the support from my colleagues from the University of Sarajevo, the University of Banja Luka and the University of Melbourne means a lot to me, since they supported my nomination for the highest level of membership,” noted Hamidovic.

Only about 10 % of members have a senior level of membership in the overall membership at the world level, while that number is even smaller in the IEEE field of BiH – only 4 % of members have senior membership status.

“These memberships can help find solutions in case of some ethical dilemma and when an employer wants something to be done, and we feel that it is not in accordance with the best practices of our profession, and we can use ethical codes of associations such as IEEE in that case,” noted Hamidovic.

He also especially mentioned the International Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, within which were developed numerous standards that are covering the field of IT.
