After the Bosnian Language now History is questionable: New Discrimination threatens Bosniak Children in the RS

children SarajevoAfter the attempt of the abolition of the Bosnian language, now in the RS are trying to abolish the right to study the truth in the last war to children of Bosniak returnees in the RS. Historian Asmir Hasicic emphasized that this is apartheid and discrimination, and parents, on the other hand, whose children are victims again and who are struggling with similar examples of discrimination for years, were not surprised by the new attack at all.

Hasicic considers that the statement of the Minister of Education and Culture of the RS Dane Malesevic that books from the FBiH will be banned on the territory of the RS if lessons like the one about the siege of Sarajevo or the genocide in Srebrenica are included in them, is reckless and deserves every condemnation.

He also added that there are no arguments on the basis of which Minister Malesevic can deny this right to Bosniak children in the RS. Muhizin Omerovic, a representative of parents of Bosniak children from Konjevic Polje, said that this decision is no surprise for them and that it represents just a step forward compared to all previous decisions.

“That is just a continuation of the ban on studying the Bosnian language and national classes. Considering the situation, I think that they will manage to ban books, because we are fighting for the issue and recognition of language for four years and we have not resolved anything yet. Most probably, the same thing will happen with this,” noted Omerovic.

Bosniak returnees are wondering based on which argument one can deny children to study their culture, tradition, and history. Hasicic questioned the same because, as he noted, he cannot see on the basis of which argument one can deny this right to Bosniak children in the RS.

“If you want me to give you something scientifically founded, something that would justify the statement of that minister in any way, I cannot. I repeat, this is a discrimination, it is apartheid and continuation of ethnic cleansing,” concluded Hasicic.
