Adnan Međedović and Edin Bašić, who arrived to Great Britain as refugees from BiH, could become millionaires if they decide to sell their company for pizza delivery “Firezza”, which they jointly founded.
When they arrived to Great Britain, they barely spoke English and struggled. In the meantime, they worked in restaurants and coffee shops such as “Starbucks”. In 2001, they decided to launch their own catering business. The unusual name for their business, “Firezza”, is an amalgam of two words, fire and pizza. With time, their business progressed and within several years they had their own stores in 11 locations, including Chiswick, Notting Hill and Schilling. Today their company is highly renowned and they could become millionaires if they decide to sell the company.
The specialty from “Firezza” is traditional Italian pizza, which is made according to a Neapolitan recipe and is sold by the meter, which is unique and the reason why “Firezza” became so popular. In fact, “Firezza” in a way fills the gap between restaurants such as “Pizza Express” and the well-known “Domino’s”, and as a result they succeeded in finding their place in the market.
Their pizza is real Italian pizza, which means extremely thin crust, and all ingredients are obtained directly from Italy. Buffalo mozzarella cheese is shipped directly from Italy once a week, and the most popular pizzas are Buffalo and Capricciosa.
The two men were in their final year of studies in architecture and engineering when they had to leave BiH. Today, they are the owners of 54 percent of the entire holding. The company currently has a profit of four million pounds a year, and annual turnover amounts to 4,2 million pounds.
