Austrian citizenship was granted to a total of 8.996 people in 2020, including 200 non-residents. That is a decrease of 15.2 percent, compared to 2019.

3.188 people who were born in Austria (35.4 percent) were granted Austrian citizenship last year.

Among naturalized persons in 2020, former citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina – BiH (967 or 10.7 percent) represent the largest group, according to the data of the Austrian Statistics Agency.

They are followed by citizens of Serbia (943), and Turkey (847).

Teenagers and young people aged 15 to 29 are more likely to get Austrian citizenship.

This data is humiliating for our country because it shows the scale of migration, more precisely the information on how many people are leaving BiH, Klix.ba writes.
