Dell Women's Entrepreneur Network event - NYCBosnians and Herzegovinians have recently been praised by one of the largest Austrian daily newspapers, Die Presse, as hard-working employees.

According to the newspaper, Bosnians and Herzegovinians are integrated on the labor market almost as Austrians themselves, as opposite to people born in Serbia or Turkey who find it much harder to integrate on the Austrian labor market.

Namely, Statistik Austria published results of research from 2014 on labor market with special reference to work integration of immigrants to this country.

During the presentation of the study, the Director of Statistik Austria Konrad Pesendorfer highlighted that the image of work integration of immigrants from Serbia and B&H is significantly different.

“While in terms of employment and unemployment the Serbs are at the same level as Turks, who are considered the least integrated of immigrants, situation with immigrants from B&H is almost at the same level as with those born in Austria, which gives hope for overcoming the refugee crisis from Syria,” said Konrad Pesendorfer.

Namely, although the immigrants are affected by the economic crisis the most and they lose their jobs first, that does not refer to persons originating from B&H.

Employment Austria ekapija.ba (1)Starting from official statistical data, if 700 out of 1,000 Austrians work in some companies, it is said that the quota of employment of Australians is 70 percent. Statistics show that Austrian employees originating from B&H have almost the same quota. Thus, as much as 70 out of 100 Bosnians and Herzegovinians who live in Austria are employed in companies across the country.

“This is a very good quota of employed Bosnians and Herzegovinians who live in Austria, even better than of the majority of other peoples who live in this country. Practically, it is almost equal to the quota held by Austrians,” one of the analysts explained.
