Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reach divorce Settlement after Eight Years

Hollywood actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reached a divorce settlement, eight years after the Maria star filed to end their two-year marriage due to “irreconcilable differences.”

Jolie (49) and Pitt (61), according to Angelina’s legal team, finalized their divorce on Monday, December 30th.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all shared properties, and since then, she has devoted herself to finding peace and healing for her family,” Angelina’s lawyer James Simon stated.

“This is just one part of a long process that has lasted eight years. Angelina is exhausted but relieved that this part is finally over.”

A source close to Jolie added, “She makes an effort not to speak ill of Pitt, either publicly or privately. She’s focused on bringing light into her life after a dark period.”

A representative for Brad Pitt declined to comment on the situation.

Jolie filed for divorce on September 19th, 2016, just days after a private flight during which she claimed Pitt had been violent toward her and their six children. Following an investigation, authorities did not file charges, and Jolie chose not to pursue legal action.

Four months later, the former spouses issued a joint statement indicating that they would handle the divorce in private proceedings to protect their children’s and family’s privacy.

“The parties and their lawyers have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family, keeping court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make necessary legal decisions and facilitate the swift resolution of remaining issues,” the statement reads.
