Israel is making the decision to act against Iran after Tehran retaliated last weekend, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said on Wednesday.
During his visit to Tel Aviv, Cameron said he hoped to “do it in a way that will contribute as little as possible to the escalation of the situation.”
The British minister said he was in Israel to show solidarity after the “terrible attack by Iran”.
“Yesterday we made our views clear on what should happen next, but we also said that Israel is an independent sovereign state and can make these decisions. It is right to show solidarity with Israel. It is right that we made our views clear on about what should happen next. But it is clear that the Israelis are making a decision to act,” said the British foreign minister.
Cameron also referred to Hamas’ treatment of Israeli prisoners.
“The only reason the conflict continues in Gaza is because they won’t accept that deal. We need the hostages to be released, we need aid to come in and I will discuss that with the Israeli government and the Palestinian Authority,” Cameron said, AA writes.
