A delegation from the UK Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina from 26 to 28 January.

The British Embassy in Sarajevo said in recent months that the UK Parliament had expressed strong interest in the situation in BiH, including holding several thematic debates and addressing parliamentary issues related to BiH.

“During the visit to BiH, the delegation will review the current political situation, regional context and the role of the UK in supporting positive change. It will hold talks with elected officials, representatives of civil society and local authorities and international partners,” it was announced.

Tom Tugendhat, chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee, said the United Kingdom is strongly committed to establishing peace in the Balkans and has a lasting legacy in defending civilians and preserving peace, stability and democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Today, the country is facing the biggest threat of decades. Our visit will help the Committee understand what it is that the UK and the wider international community can still do to help,” Tugendhat said.

The Foreign Affairs Committee of the British Parliament reviews the work of the UK Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development. It consists of members of parliament from different political parties.
On January 18, the committee held a discussion on the situation in BiH.
