Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) Marinko Čavara, Member of the House of Representatives Mira Pekić on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Darko Babalj and Member of the House of Representatives Aid Baručija on behalf of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Denis Zvizdić held a meeting today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Kęstutis Budrys, who is on an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The focus of the conversation was on the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and on taking the necessary reform steps with the aim of overcoming the current deadlock and meeting the conditions for opening negotiations for full membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European Union.

Budrys conveyed a clear message that Lithuania, as a country that takes over the presidency of the European Union from January 1 next year, remains a reliable partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the European path, but also warned of the urgent need to continue the implementation of essential reforms.

He emphasized that the issue of the enlargement of the European Union will be one of the five priority issues of the Lithuanian presidency of the European Union, and he offered expert support and assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the process of European integration.

The members of the leadership of the PSBiH House of Representatives thanked the high-ranking guest for Lithuania’s support and expressed the hope that this visit will contribute to a better understanding of the situation in BiH and the entire region.

The interlocutors agreed that the European perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina has no alternative and underlined the importance of preserving the stability of BiH and the entire region of the Western Balkans for the European security architecture.

During the meeting, they also discussed the improvement of bilateral relations, especially on the economic level, as well as the strengthening of institutional cooperation between the two friendly countries, announced the Public Relations Department of the PS BiH.
