First digital assistant Cadence originating from Bosnia and Herzegovina is a project by Haris Aščalić from Visoko.
This software can recognize the sounds of domestic violence and ignoring. According to the young creator, with the help of sound and camera Cadence is programmed to ‘see’ whether the user is present or not. For example, if you ignore Cadence, she will ask if everything is okay and if you do not answer to her, after several seconds she calls the police or other help that user configures during the installation of this program.
Cadence has been presented to the public a while ago. So far, it is capable of performing numerous complex operations such as sending SMS, emails and many other options that can be seen from Haris’s YouTube channel. Software Cadence also monitors the user’s behavior and learns something about the user. Thus, through everyday use Cadence finds out what the user likes and how he/she spends time. The user helps Cadence become more intelligent and capable to know how and when to help him/her.
In addition to automatic call to police, the software also offers an option to make a call to some other organization or certain persons whose phone number the user provides in order to be used in case of emergency. Haris states that in the coming upgrades the app will also use the data of „machine learning“ for recognizing the kinds of stress that imply that the user needs help.
