Campaign “22nd September – Day without Cars“ to be held in Sarajevo

day without carsThe BH auto-moto club (BIHAMK) and the City of Sarajevo will realize today, from 5.00 p.m. to 8 p.m., a campaign “22nd September-Day without cars“.

It was stated from BIHAMK that within the campaign, the recreational ride of uniquely dressed cyclists through the city (City Hall-Skenderija-Citiy Hall-Eternal Flame) is planned, and after that a short program at the plateau in front of the Eternal flame where children will ompete in cycling at the skills polygon and in drawing. The three best in both categories will be adequately awarded.

In that period, in the center of the city, there will be a suspension in traffic, in order to ensure the dafety of participants.

That campaign will be realized within the “European days without cars“, and under the sponsorship of the City of Sarajevo. Realization of this campaign is also supported by the Ministry of Transport of Canton Sarajevo, Sarajevo-osiguranje and the Cycling club „Trek Team“.

“European day without cars“ is being marked on 22nd September, and is provided for certain parts of the city to be closed for cars with the aim to point out the importance of the protection of the life environment and to stimulate citizens to walking, cycling or the usage of the public transport in order to contribute to a better and more healthy way of life, and to point out a too large number of transport vehicles whose exhaust gases are contributing to the air pollution.
