The fire on Mount Cvrsnica in the Blidinje Nature Park is currently being extinguished by a canadair from Croatia, and the wind is making it difficult to extinguish it.
“Canadairs extinguishes the fire on a total of ten places, it can’t do it anymore because of fuel. We’ll see what happens next. Firefighters are on the ground, but the work is made difficult by the wind,” said Ljubo Bradaric from Civil Protection Posušje.
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Croatia announced that the air firefighting forces have been engaged in Croatia very often in recent days, but they emphasized that this does not prevent them from providing assistance to neighboring countries when they need it the most.
When it comes to the damage caused by this fire, Bradaric said earlier that it is difficult to estimate exactly how much area is burning, but he added that it is certainly not below 20 hectares because a lot of pine forest has burned.
According to the latest information from the Federal Operations Center, the fire is still active in the area of Boracko Lake. Firefighters and members of the Konjic Forest Service are on the ground, but help is still needed in extinguishing the air.
The fire in Citluk was localized, but not fully repaired.
“The line of fire is over 10 kilometers long, and it is impossible to rehabilitate such a large area, so it is constantly on call and tries to extinguish it when it is reactivated. Currently, there is no open flame and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina are not needed, but considering that the temperatures are high and the fields are neglected, how agricultural, as well as forestry, the need may arise in an hour,” the report says.
The fire is still active in Podvelezje, Gostina Suma near Mostar, in Dracevo and Gabela, and in Trijebnje near Stolac, and firefighters are on the ground.
