Cardinal Vinko Puljic, the archbishop of Vrhbosna, sent a Christmas congratulatory message to all Catholics in BiH, and stated that everyone should open their hearts and ears to the word of God and love in order to have peace and joy in ourselves, our families and our society.
Cardinal Puljic also talked about modern plagues of society where today’s man is preoccupied with pleasure and blinded by selfishness and greed and thus he is increasingly losing the sense of the modesty that was manifested through the birth of Jesus Christ. He said that we must not forget our roots and allow it to dry up and disappear, referring to family ties.
He also added that God sends his light in many ways to those who are open to the word of God, sometimes by invisible inspirations, and sometimes through real persons. With Jesus’ birth, God shows that he is not far away, but very close to us, and gives love to human beings in silence.
He wished to all Catholics that Christmas joy fills their hearts and make their souls better in order for the relationship between ourselves to shine with Jesus presence.
He told the believers to pray for the poor and the sick and those who are taking care of them, the soldiers, the police officers, the prison guards, but also for the sinners to repent and start doing good.
“Let’s s pray for those who are leading this country to work for the wellbeing of all of us. Let’s s pray for all people to be builders of peace. Merry Christmas to all of you, may it fulfill you with joy and hope, in order to enter the new summer of 2018 with courage and faith,” as stated by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna.
