electionsPresident of the Central Election Commission of BiH (CEC BiH) Irena Hadziabdic said at the press conference that security in Stolac before the elections on Sunday was raised to a high level and that the preparations prior to the Election Day are completed.

Hadziabdic said that this morning at 7 am started election silence in Stolac, which will last until 7 pm on Sunday, or until the polls are closed. In this period are not permitted political activities, the impact on voters or obstruction of the electoral process. Polling stations will be opened on Sunday, from 7 am to 7 pm.

“The number of voters who registered to vote in Stolac is 10,012 regular, 1,321 voters who received their ballots by mail and 31 voters who will vote in absence. All preparations for re-election in Stolac are near completion and location of polling stations are determined and remained unchanged compared to the 2nd of October. We have 24 polling stations. There are two candidates on the list for the Mayor of Stolac, and there are 68 candidates for the Municipal Council on behalf of 14 political entities,” said Hadziabdic.

She noted that the security in this city is raised to a high level and that all police agencies will respond to tasks regarding the electoral process.

Commenting on a large number of dead people who were found on the voter lists in the first electoral process, the President of the CEC said that there is no country in the world where the dead person is not found on the voter’s list on the Election Day.

“The problem of dead people in BiH is very complex. The CEC has no authority to delete or remove anyone from the list. It is an integrated IT system, which works on the line Registrar’s Office – Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) – IDEEA. Municipal Election Commission in Stolac was dismissed for failing to make sufficient effort to prevent the incident to happen in Stolac,” concluded Hadziabdic.
