The ballot that was declared invalid last week during the voting for the election of delegates from Republika Srpska to the new convocation of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina is valid.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina made this decision at today’s session in Sarajevo, accepting with five votes ‘for’ and two votes ‘against’ the proposed act, the full official title of which is the Proposal for a Decision on Determining the Results of Indirect Elections and Allocation of Mandates in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the entity of Republika Srpska.

This decision of the CEC can be appealed, it was said.

The contested ballot is the one on which, last week, during the voting in the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska for the election of delegates from that entity to the House of Peoples of the state parliament, an X was written over the name of the political entity, i.e. the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP), and not in a square in front of the name of that political entity, which on the day of voting was interpreted as an invalid ballot.
