Chairman of BiH Presidency met with the Minister of European Affairs of Finland

The Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, spoke with the Minister for European Affairs of the Republic of Finland, Joakim Strand, as part of a working visit to the Republic of Finland.

Bećirović thanked for the continuous support that Finland provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina on the way to membership in the EU and NATO.

He pointed out the importance of Finland’s support in the process of European integration of our country, especially when obtaining the candidate status of Bosnia and Herzegovina for EU membership and making the decision to open accession negotiations of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the EU.

Also, Bećirović pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s goal is full membership in the EU and NATO.

The Minister for European Affairs of the Republic of Finland, Joakim Strand, said that his country strongly supports EU enlargement and the European perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the countries of the Western Balkans.

He stressed the need for a clear and credible path to membership, which includes the provision of technical and financial assistance to help Bosnia and Herzegovina meet the necessary criteria.

During the conversation, the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, condemned the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine and expressed his support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Chairman of the BiH Presidency dr. Denis Bećirović emphasized that the membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the EU and NATO would strongly contribute to the improvement of the economic development and progress of the entire country.
