Chairman of the Presidency of BiH holds a Meeting with the Prime Minister of Poland

The Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Donald Tusk, in Gdańsk.

They discussed the strengthening of bilateral ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Poland, as well as multilateral activities, including Euro-Atlantic integration and security-political challenges.

“Bećirović pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Poland are celebrating 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations this year, stressing that the two friendly countries have no outstanding issues, and that there are opportunities for further improvement of political, economic and security cooperation. He particularly pointed to the need to intensify bilateral contacts at a high level, as well as strengthening cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture, investments, tourism and communication connections,” Bećirović’s office announced.

The Chairman of the BiH Presidency expressed his gratitude for the contribution that the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland, as a NATO member, make within the framework of the ALTHEA mission, as part of the EUFOR forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina, thus making an important contribution to peace support operations in our country.

Bećirović reiterated that Bosnia and Herzegovina remains firmly committed to full membership in the EU and NATO, and thanked the Republic of Poland for its strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European and Euro-Atlantic path.

“Bećirović said that Bosnia and Herzegovina has achieved significant results on the European and Euro-Atlantic path, which is supported by the vast majority of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Unfortunately, the path to membership in the EU and NATO is blocked by the leaders of the Bosnia and Herzegovina entity RS, who coordinate their policy with Moscow, not with Brussels. With their destructive policy, they threaten the Dayton Peace Agreement, peace and stability, and therefore the sanctions of the Republic of Poland against the former president of the RS entity are completely justified,” it was added in the announcement.

He also emphasized that it is necessary to strengthen the resilience of state institutions and improve the cooperation of European partners in confronting the threats of destructive forces.

“Tusk confirmed his support for the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He stressed that the Republic of Poland remains committed to strengthening cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina and providing support for the stability, security and democratic development of the Western Balkans,” the statement concluded.
