Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sefik Dzaferovic spoke with the European Union Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional issues Miroslav Lajcak.

Interlocutors exchanged views on the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, and stated that the support provided by the EU to Bosnia and Herzegovina is extremely significant and will greatly contribute to mitigating the effects of the pandemic.

They also discussed the continuation of the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the initiative of the Bosnian Presidency to implement 14 recommendations from the European Commission’s Opinion as soon as possible.

Lajcak welcomed the steps taken by the Bosnian Presidency to accelerate the European path and to initiate accelerated reforms.

The topic of the talks was the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Zagreb, which will be held on Wednesday in videoconference format.

Chairman Dzaferovic and EU Special Representative Lajcak agreed that this summit is an opportunity to open Bosnia and Herzegovina’s prospect of obtaining candidate status as soon as possible.
