Chairman Zvizdić signs the Global Climate Agreement in New York

13082125_1161816187202669_438524097_nChairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić met with the President of the General Assembly of UN Mogens Lykketoft in New York.

Chairman Zvizdić thanked for successful organization of the official signing of the historical agreement on climate and said that cooperation of all countries is crucial for stopping the extremely serious and destructive climate change which would eventually lead to disastrous consequences.

Zvizdić highlighted that he will put efforts so that Bosnia and Herzegovina would ratify the Agreement as soon as possible.

“The Strategy of adjusting to the climate change and low-carbon development is already being implemented in BiH, and the aim is for our country to become a sustainable and advances ‘green economy’ by 2025’. My gratitude goes to the United Nations for the help they provided to BiH during floods which occurred two years ago,” Zvizdić said.

It was also talked about problems of humanitarian crises caused by conflicts, poverty, climate change and natural disasters. Regarding the solving of these problems, the interlocutors pointed out the significance of organizing the first World Humanitarian Summit by the UN in Istanbul next month.

Chairman Zvizdić said that BiH contributes to the security and stability in the world in the best way by sending police officers and military bodies to peacekeeping missions of the UN. Zvizdić pointed out that around 40 police officers from BiH is currently engaged in peacekeeping missions in Southern Sudan, Cyprus, Liberia, Somalia and Afghanistan. Furthermore, Zvizdić said that BiH will continue implementing these activities and expressed expectation that BiH will be more significantly represented within the leading personnel of the UN.

The meetings was attended by the Ambassador of BiH to the USA Haris Hrle and Chief of BiH Mission to OUN Miloš Vukašinović.
