The Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Zeljka Cvijanovic, addressed reporters after the emergency session of this institution regarding the crisis in BiH. She emphasized that she could not accept the conclusion about EUFOR proposed by the other two members and told them they were separatists.
At the very beginning, she referred to the cancellation of the session on the budget of state institutions.
“A session on the budget was planned because the Council of Ministers requested that it be returned for revision. I expect that we will also have that session once everything is fulfilled in terms of formal and legal procedures,” she said.
She then presented details of the session held on the topic “Consideration of the internal political situation in BiH due to the attack on the constitutional order.” She emphasized that there was outvoting in the conclusions and that one of the conclusions would have a second round of voting.
“The emergency session had an inglorious end, we ended up in a situation of outvoting. They insisted on the formulation of the destruction of the constitutional order, and the conclusions proposed by colleagues were adopted by a 2:1 vote,” she said.
She specifically raised an issue with the conclusion concerning the engagement of EUFOR, stating that she will refer this to the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NARS) if necessary.
“One of those conclusions concerns international matters and it will go to a second round of voting. After that, and if necessary, I will refer it to the NARS. In addition to the disputed classifications given regarding the destruction of the constitutional order, there was also one conclusion that requested the engagement of EUFOR in carrying out the arrest of officials from RS. Given that these are international forces grounded in an international agreement, and the extension of the mandate is something that also takes place in the international sphere, i.e., the Peace Implementation Council (PIC), this qualifies all these conclusions and makes them subject to a second round of voting,” she said.
She emphasized that for her and those who elected her to the position of member of the BiH Presidency, such a conclusion is unacceptable, and she characterized the conclusions of Presidency members Denis Becirovic and Zeljko Komsic as separatist.
“What happened today is that my colleagues Becirovic and Komsic continued their separatist activities aimed at breaking up BiH and seceding the Federation from the common state. My duty was to warn that I come from 49 percent of the territory where I was elected and that we decide equally. What they propose within those conclusions does not reflect the views of everyone in BiH, which is why such conclusions cannot be considered a common stance of all of us in BiH. I consider these dangerous tendencies,” she said yesterday.
She told her colleagues in the BiH Presidency that they cannot influence the work of EUFOR and that they should consider whether a discussion in the Presidency brings anything or will “serve to further deepen the disorder.”
“My colleagues said that if I do not agree with the EUFOR conclusion, I am disputing the EUFOR mandate. I had to say that I am not disputing the mandate, but I am disputing the right of the Presidency members to determine when and what EUFOR should do. EUFOR has its own serious command, and that command can determine what its priorities are; it does not need any prompting from two members of the Presidency, nor does it need to be called and asked for assistance by politicians from the Bosniak side,” said Cvijanovic.
She also emphasized that it would bother the Serbian people to once again see the arrest of their politicians, as happened in the past, albeit with SDS officials.
“Any kind of arrests being called for in this way always reminds us of those bad things we saw in the past, which we want to forget, and which involved raids and harassment that were clearly visible at the time. I want that to be a distant past for BiH and RS,” she said, Klix.ba writes.
