Chairperson of BiH Presidency: The Candidate Status will definitely be granted to BiH

The Chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, assessed that the formation of the Council of Ministers will take time, and added that the government in Sarajevo is always assembled and that it is difficult to imagine a pro-gam coalition.

“We have a technical coalition of those who won the elections,” Cvijanović said.

Cvijanović, who is also the vice-president of SNSD party, said that it is important that SNSD has an agreement with HDZ BiH party, and that it will be seen “who will crystallize as a partner from the Federation of BiH”.

“The message that we are choosing a partner was a reaction because the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina started to say that they will form the government without the SNSD. They got an answer,” Cvijanović told “Glas Srpska”.

When asked if she expects pressure from the European Union to speed up the formation of the government as a condition for candidate status, Cvijanović said that there is and will be pressure from the European Union.

“I’m not really sure that it’s possible for someone to press so hard to influence the formation of the government. That should happen as a result of our agreement. As for the European Union, they have their vision,” Cvijanović said.

She assessed that candidate status will definitely be granted to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“We are entering a phase when this space will be more necessary for the European Union than in an earlier time. We have certain potentials that the whole of Europe is now crying out for, and we are viewed differently in the security context,” said Cvijanović.
