Montenegrin Police promptly identified Persons who beat Bosnian Athletes

On the occasion of the brutal beating of young Bosnian athletes during their stay in Montenegro, the head of the cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zlatan Burzić, invited the chargé d’affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Montenegro in Sarajevo Satko Hajdarpašić for an interview.

On that occasion, Burzić expressed concern about the latest events, respecting the friendly relations between the two countries. He considered the attack on the boys who went to Montenegro with their sports club to make new friends unacceptable, and instead felt all the brutality of juvenile delinquency.

He expressed the expectation that the perpetrators, even though they are minors, will be punished most severely, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

He expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the police promptly identified and arrested the perpetrators and expressed confidence in the work of the judicial authorities of Montenegro in order to adequately sanction this act of vandalism.

The Embassy of Montenegro in Sarajevo pointed out that the entire Montenegrin public is appalled by this unpleasant event.

“On my own behalf, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, the entire Government of Montenegro, Montenegrin society, I ask the public of Bosnia and Herzegovina to accept our apology. We strongly condemn this type of behavior towards our guests, because in Montenegro we want and strive for everyone to feel like at home,” Hajdarpašić said, among other things.

She also informed that the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Bar had already filed a criminal complaint against one of the attackers, who is an adult, after which he was ordered to be detained for 72 hours.

“At the end, Burzić stressed that the domestic public is upset by such an incident and that we will monitor the development of the situation in this specific case, as well as that this is a test for the entire society, but primarily the judicial system of Montenegro,” the announcement states.
