pravosu?eThe Chief Prosecutor of BiH Goran Salihović is on a visit to the US, where he will meet with the highest officials of the judicial and security organizations in the US, announced the BiH Prosecution.

Strengthening the capacity to fight corruption, organized crime and prosecution of war criminals in BiH, as well as cooperation between prosecutors at the regional and international level are the main topics of discussion with senior officials of the judiciary and police institutions in the US.

Salihović already had a meeting with the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the US James Cole.

During the meeting they stressed the support of the US to the BiH Prosecutor Office in prosecuting war crimes, corruption, organized crime and terrorism.

Salihović also met with the Ambassador of the US on issues of war crimes Stephen Rapp, who expressed support in the strengthening of regional cooperation and lending support in strengthening the capacity of the Prosecutor Office in the context of an efficient prosecution of war crimes.

During the visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Salihović spoke with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office for South and Central Europe Jonathan Moore.

Moore said that there are no obstacles, but rather only a clear support of the US government in the prosecution of people suspected and accused of criminal offenses of corruption, organized crime and terrorism.

Salihović spoke with the Director of the Office for the International Fight Against Narcotics and Law Enforcement William R. Brownfield, and during the meeting they identified important areas for cooperation and strengthening the capacity of the prosecution in several segments, which are of particular importance in rule of law implementation.
