The German Embassy in Sarajevo hosted a Christmas Bazaar today, organized by the embassy’s employees.
The bazaar was opened by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Thomas Fitschen with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and welcoming remarks, who said that they have been organizing the bazaar since 2011.
“This is our already traditional Christmas Bazaar and our gift to the city of Sarajevo, our friends and all those who love our bazaar,” Fitschen emphasized.
This year, visitors were once again greeted by an abundance of traditional culinary specialties such as Christmas cookies, cakes, mulled wine, as well as authentic German specialties such as grilled sausages “Currywurst” and liver cheese “Leberkäse”. For all those who want to fill their homes with the festive spirit, there were handmade Advent wreaths and decorations.
Representatives of local initiatives with which the Embassy closely cooperates also exhibited their products and handicrafts.
The bazaar is supported by numerous partners of the German Embassy with their participation and donations, and a raffle with valuable prizes will also be organized. As every year, all funds raised will be directed to charity.
In addition to its humanitarian character, the Christmas Bazaar is also known for its pleasant festive atmosphere and socializing, and famous Christmas songs and holiday hits were performed by children from children’s choirs from Sarajevo, Fena writes.
